COVID-19 is hitting hard the entire world, it only takes two minutes of watching the news to feel worried and depressed, and while we are very lucky to be in a corner far away from the most affected areas by the virus, the truth is that this illness is affecting us in other ways.
As we have mentioned in previous posts, tourism is facing an unprecedented challenge around the globe, and of course, our region is suffering too. With all hotels and restaurants closed, barely any land or air arrivals, and vacation rentals suspended, thousands of families are going through difficult financial times.
But despite going through such difficult times, acts of kindness of and towards our local community demonstrate a high sense of compassion and concern for others. This is the case of MITA VIVE AC, a local non-profit integrated by residents of the community itself, with the main goal of creating projects to improve the quality of life of the local inhabitants.
As a result of the current situation, MITA VIVE AC created a community kitchen to support all those members of the community that are currently unemployed and families in vulnerable conditions. With the aid of local residents and businesses as Mita Residential, Grupo Versan, Casa Teresa restaurant, Frutería Mita, as well as the Punta Mita development, Carl Emberson and his team, and some of the Punta Mita residents, every day this kitchen prepares a menu to deliver to the community.
It's truly a pleasure to see all different groups from private entities and local residents working together to provide much-needed help to the community neighbors.
