Puerto Vallarta is getting ready for an unprecedented event: the First International Garbage Fishing Tournament. Scheduled for October 20, 2024, this initiative seeks to bring together the community and sea lovers to clean up the waters of Banderas Bay and raise awareness about the importance of taking care of our marine environment.

How to participate?
To participate in the tournament, you can register as a team or as an individual. Teams can be formed by a maximum of 6 people and must have a boat. The registration fee includes:
- Participant's kit
- Insurance
- Access to all event activities
What will the event be about?
During the tournament, participants will sail around Banderas Bay collecting all types of solid waste, from plastic bottles to abandoned fishing nets. At the end, the waste will be sorted and the total amount collected will be counted.
Plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats to marine life and coastal ecosystems. This tournament aims to:
- Raise awareness: Inform the population about the problem of marine pollution and its consequences.
- Clean up: Remove a large amount of waste from the ocean, improving water quality and the marine habitat.
