Day of the Dead in Riviera Nayarit: Tradition, Flavor, and Celebration

Every year, as October comes to an end, Mexico transforms. The aroma of copal mingles with the scent of marigolds, altars fill with color, and memory takes on a special place in each celebration.

In Riviera Nayarit, Day of the Dead comes to life through the sea, gastronomy, and cultural expressions that keep one of Mexico's most representative traditions alive. In 2026, Riviera Nayarit once again becomes the setting for celebrations that bring together cuisine, art, music, and rituals, offering different ways to experience this meaningful time of year.

Catrinas Fest at Four Seasons Punta Mita

From October 30 to November 1, Four Seasons Punta Mita presents Catrinas Fest, a weekend dedicated to celebrating life, remembering those who are no longer with us, and honoring the richness of Mexican culture.

The experience begins on October 30 with a Day of the Dead Dinner, where guest chefs Lula Martín del Campo and Yesenia Ríos will join resident chefs Sandra Flores and Leslie Durso to present live culinary stations inspired by the flavors of Mexico. The evening also invites guests to become part of the celebration with artistic Catrina and Catrín face painting.

On October 31, Noche de Tertulia will bring together four talented women in gastronomy for a four-course tasting menu accompanied by live mariachi. The evening will continue at MEZ Bar with signature cocktails, a DJ, and saxophone.

To close the festival on November 1, the aroma of freshly baked pan de muerto will lead guests to Dos Catrinas for breakfast, accompanied by morning classics and mimosas.

The celebration also includes activities for the whole family, with children's workshops ranging from alebrije-making to calavera mask workshops, along with other experiences designed for both children and adults to enjoy the spirit of the season together.

Younger guests will also have their own space to celebrate, with activities including costume workshops, a candy hunt, and a mummy race.

Each night during the festivities, the activities will culminate by the ocean with a ceremony dedicated to honoring those who came before us. It is a celebration where Mexican traditions meet the Pacific, and where every detail invites guests to experience Day of the Dead through different expressions of our culture.
